Captain and business graduate Peter Harren – founder of the Harren & Partner Group – decided to devote his life to shipping at an early age. At just 15 years old, he signed on as a ship’s boy on a coaster and spent many years as a merchant seaman, most recently as a master for deep-sea vessels of any size or type. After completing his degree in business studies at Hamburg University, he laid the foundations for today’s shipping group in 1989 by purchasing his first very own ship – the “ORION III”. As a company founder, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the company and coordinating business processes.

Dr. Martin Harren has been a member of the Harren & Partner Group since 2003 and Managing Director of the investment companies since 2007, responsible for the strategic direction of Fund Design and Ship Financing. Besides coordinating debt and equity capital procurement, his main duties include business accounting for the individual shipping companies and interest-rate and currency management.

Peter Grönwoldt has been employed by the Harren & Partner-group as managing director since 2003 and has played a major role in its establishment. He is responsible for providing a full insurance cover for the fleet and for the clearing of any claims within the Ship Management sector. Additionally he coordinates the departments chartering and operating. Furthermore, he is the contact person for further education in house.

Engineering graduate Erik Lüder has been instrumental in the development of the Harren & Partner Group as a technical inspector since 1996. In 2006, he became a member of the management of Harren & Partner Ship Management GmbH & Co. KG, assuming responsibility for the comprehensive coordination and ongoing building supervision of newbuilding projects of the Harren & Partner Group.

Engineering graduate Wolfgang Volkens set up the Purchasing department of the Harren & Partner Group in 2000, before establishing the purchasing company trans-Mar-supply GmbH & Co. KG as managing partner in 2002. As fleet manager of the Harren & Partner Group since 2008, he also organises the planned maintenance system of the mobile fleet and arranges/follows-up shipyard visits, regular inspections and machine overhauls according to schedule.

Business and engineering graduate Caspar Graf von Spee has vast experience in the maritime industry, both ashore and at sea, thanks to his business training and master’s certificate. He joined the Harren & Partner Group in August 2008, following several posts in the port industry and special shipping companies. His responsibilities range from heading nautical inspection and crewing to overseeing the business side of newbuilding projects.
