K/S Combi Lift

K/S Combi Lift is the result of a joint venture between the shipping companies Harren & Partner and J. Poulsen Shipping A/S in 2000. The company specialises in offering comprehensive services in the area of heavy lift and project cargo shipment. A century of shipping experience and knowledge has enabled the two partners to help Combi Lift establish an excellent reputation as one of the world’s leading suppliers of complex project cargoes in no time at all.

Effectively pooling core competencies
K/S Combi Lift operates a modern heavy lift fleet, optimised to handle heavy lift and project cargoes such as industrial manufacturing equipment, power plant modules, refineries and hazardous goods (SOLAS II-2). As the joint venture allows the partners to effectively pool their core competencies, all commercial management tasks of the Poulsen Group are performed in the company headquarters of K/S Combi Lift in Korsør, Denmark. Now in its fourth generation of shipping, the Poulsen family has a correspondingly vast network of market contacts, enabling it to acquire profitable cargo orders. Staff at the Bremen branch, on the other hand, are entrusted with the diverse tasks of the Operating department. The team of Captain Heiko Felderhoff, for example, carries out complicated cargo and stowage calculations, heavy lift engineering and regular inspections of the heavy lift fleet.

Quality management with a difference

In order to establish a reputation as a reliable partner in project cargo transportation, extensive technical expertise and a commitment to quality are essential. Combi Lift has also gained a competitive edge here, too: the independent classification society DNV has awarded the company a total of three ISO certificates in the areas of Quality Management (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSAS 18001), making Combi Lift the only company in the world to hold these certifications for both land and sea management.

Leading with innovation
Furthermore, a distinct willingness to embrace innovation guarantees access to a discerning customer base. With the “COMBI DOCK” series, Combi Lift has designed a novel type of ship tailored specifically to the requirements of the shipping industry to transport ever larger, fully assembled units and thus significantly reduce loading time. “COMBI DOCK” ships are thus the first to combine several performance profiles of different types of ship. The ships are able to take totally different kinds of cargo on board – both floating and ro-ro or using powerful heavy lift cranes – simultaneously, if necessary. With a fourth vessel expected later this year, Combi Lift has a unique selling proposition, as no other ship currently exists with a similar performance profile.
