trans-Mar-supply - steady on the job
In early 2002, trans-Mar-supply GmbH & Co. KG was established as a joint venture between the shipping companies Jüngerhans and Harren & Partner under the direction of graduate engineer Wolfgang Volkens, in order to pool the purchasing activities of various shipping companies efficiently under one roof. This enables the synergies resulting from the management of an extensive fleet comprising around 100 vessels to be fully exploited, leading to significant cost savings.
The nautical and technical inspectors together with the on-board officers in charge are freed from administrative duties in Logistics, Procurement and Warehousing, allowing them to concentrate all their efforts on the safe and reliable operation of the vessels.
From order acceptance to the complete supply of the required components on board the vessels, all related activities are carried out by the experts at trans-Mar-supply. These include:
- accepting orders and initiating orders following approval by inspectors,
- intermediate warehousing,
- organising land, sea and air cargo,
- compiling product catalogues specifically for shipping companies,
- advising on and implementing IT-based solutions in PMS, Purchasing and Warehousing as well as
- drawing up and monitoring budgets.
